This 1921 first-print edition volume of American writer Howard Pyle’s curated stories captures the swagger of the buccaneers who prowled the Caribbean during the 17th century. Published by Harper & Brothers of New York and London, the large-format hardbound book features Pyle’s intricate illustrations across numerous color plates and sketches. This specific copy also contains a handwritten dedication dated May 8, 1923, from the original purchaser to her grandson, given as a gift as the 1920s got underway.
