The 1960s and 1970s marked an era of great musical leaps and bounds as Rock n’ Roll shed its 1950s cocoon that had been a great start made possible by the pioneers such as Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley. The Beatles arrival on Ed Sullivan in February 1964 announced to America—and thus the world—that change was underway and by 1967, the transformation was unmistakable as the Summer of Love kicked off a celebration that continues to echo and reverberate today.
Along with great strides being made in recorded music, Rock n’ Roll also came into its own as a live entertainment genre during this period and the electric ballrooms in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles all proved to be great showcases for the bands that were up and coming in that era.
Each of these posters dates to the era and are not reproductions. Some of the posters have suffered some mild damage over the years, mostly corner tears, pin-holes and scratches, but so it is when you want to hang in your home the very same poster that once hung in a marquee case at Bill Grahams’ Filmore or Winterland ballrooms or in one of the hipster headshops and record stores where shows were advertised and tickets sold.
Each poster has been individually covered in shrink-wrap against a cardboard backing to provide protection until they are ready to be removed and hung.
