It’s a Beautiful Day: Credence Clearwater Revival at The Filmore West, July 1968

Concert promoter Bill Graham continued his epic run of shows through his newly opened Filmore West venue—Graham’s Filmore East was located in Manhattan’s East Village district and predated the San Francisco location—by hosting Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf and local band It’s a Beautiful Day on July 2,3 and 4. That was followed by shows on July 5, 6 and 7 featuring Butterfield Blues Band and Ten Years After with an unknown band billed simply as Truth—but the Truth was the working name of Jeff Beck’s Group that featured Rod Stewart on vocals and Ronnie Wood on bass with Micky Waller on drums. The Beck would release his debut solo album entitled ‘Truth’ that same month. Artist Lee Conklin again provides the honors by creating an extremely intricate poster design that blends the human body and bends the mind as the view tries to slowly take it all in, with lots of little hidden gems to discover.
